This was a lovely collection of relatable poems about life, motherhood, friendship, marriage, love, and relationships.

You really get to know the poet through her words in these poems and as a mom, it really took me back to when my now 17 and 15 year old were only a year old and liked to sit on the floor and play or read books. That time is precious, cherish it. I also say to her "Same", as I still having figured out how to do it all as we flit from event to event trying to survive until the weekend to recharge and recover from the week. I felt seen in these poems.

I was provided both an ebook and audio ARC of this book via Netgalley, all opinions are my own.

The author narrates the audiobook, which doesn't always work for novels, but is so perfect when it comes to poetry.  I don't think anyone can deliver poetry quite the same way as the poet, so I always appreciate a self narrated poetry collection.

I don't think I've ever connected to a poetry collection the way I did to this one.  It is straight forward, witty, and relatable.  It deals with body image, weight, aging, relationships, and so many other things you have to deal with as a woman.  These poems really spoke to me and I'm grateful to have been able to both listen and read along with them.  I really enjoyed the style of poems, they aren't super complex or long.  The author gets to the point and they all have clever titles.  That won't be everyone's preference when it comes to poetry.  For me these were thought provoking without having to think about the meaning of the poem because it was right there on the page.

I thoroughly enjoyed this humorous and clever collection of poems and look forward to reading more from the author in the future.  This is a collection I'll be buying because it made me feel seen and and that being "a bit much" might just be the right amount.

This was a lovely poetry collection.  I found the poems to be relatable and easy to follow.  I don't read poetry often, but when I do I prefer that it be something I can easily follow and understand.  Deiner's poems are just that.  You know what she is saying and you can feel the emotion behind each of them which is exactly what I want from a poem. 

This collection really leans into the author's own experiences with love and heartache as well as other topics.  

Overall, I enjoyed this collection and look forward to reading more from the author in the future.

I received an ARC of this book via Netgalley, all opinions are my own.

This was a nice collection of poems about joy, nature, and everyday things.  Some of the poems were only a few words or one line, while others were a little longer.  The poetry was straight forward, which I enjoy.  I didn't have to decipher what the author was getting at, I knew what he was trying to say without having to think deeply.

If you enjoy more complex and deep poetry, this may not be the collection for you.  Sometimes you need something easy to read that you can enjoy in one sitting.

I was provided an audio arc of this book via Netgalley, all options are my own. I kept seeing the cover of this and was immediately drawn to the book. I kept coming back to it and knew I needed to read it. I’m so glad that I did.

I really enjoyed this poetry collection. I really enjoyed that it was narrated by the author. I feel poetry is often more impactful when spoken and who better to speak it than the author. Her voice was a pleasure to listen to. As the author mentions in intro some of the poems are meant to be viewed as they have a visual impact. The audio is supposed to have a pdf for these poems, but I was able to grab a print copy from my library and follow along with the audiobook. There are some really cool visual poems in the print version but I really enjoyed listening to Nichelle speak her words.

This covers a lot of different topics and the length of the poems varies from a few words to a few pages. I found myself reflecting on many of the poems and you can really feel the author’s emotions and experiences in each of the poems. As you can tell my the title that there is a focus on God and religion throughout, so I would stay away from this collection if that is not your cup of tea. I didn’t feel it was preaching anything or disrespectful, only a reflection on the author’s own experience and feelings. This is geared toward a more audience based on some of the content and language.

Overall this was a solid collection and I’m so glad I followed my instincts to grab a copy of the audiobook. I was not disappointed with this beautiful collection of poems.
