Review Policy

This is my personal blog.  It is a hobby for me, I started blogging because I love to read and share what I think about books.  I read or listen anywhere between 100-200 books a year.  I attempt to get all of my ARC reviews posted by publication date or on the specified blog tour date or date specified by the author/publisher.

My rating scale:  I rate books on a scale from 1 to 5.  I use a full star rating criteria.  I know what I like to read and most books I read end up with a 3 or 4 star rating, but I do come across things that do not appeal to my tastes from time to time.  I give my honest feedback while trying to point out both the negative and the positive.  I do read ARCs and will disclose that in my reviews.

5 Stars - I loved this book, if I borrowed it from the library or received an ARC I will be buying a copy, and I see myself rereading it again.  I will recommend this book to others.  I really can't find anything wrong with this book.  I find myself thinking about the book often after I read it.  I probably read this in 1-2 sittings.

4 Stars - I loved the book, but I probably found a couple of flaws.  I can probably see myself re-reading this book again.  I likely would recommend this book and would buy a copy if I haven't already.  I probably read this in 2-3 sittings.

3 Stars - I enjoyed the book. I probably found some flaws, didn't connect with the characters, found the pace slow, but the overall it was good.  I probably wouldn't reread.  If it is part of a series I would continue.

2 Stars - This isn't necessarily a bad rating, I just found the book to be OK.  It wasn't bad, I just didn't particularly enjoy it.  I probably found a good deal of flaws and wouldn't recommend it.  If it is part of a series I likely wouldn't continue.

1 Star - I rarely give this rating, but it does happen.  I really didn't like the book.  I struggled to finish it.  I try to see why others would like the book, and give the reasons why I didn't connect with it.

No rating - Occasionally I choose not to rate a book.  This happens rarely and I will usually leave a comment as to why I chose to do so.  It is typically because it is a genre I do not care for and my review is invalid because I didn't care for the genre and that skews my opinion.

DNF - I almost never give up on a book, but it does happen.  There are so many books, and only so much time to read.  It takes a lot for me to abandon a book.  A book must be full of flaws, offensive, or I find it boring and very slow paced.
