Review: Treoir Dragon Chronicles of the Belador World: Book 9 by Dianna Love

Treoir Dragon Chronicles of the Belador World: Book 9 Treoir Dragon Chronicles of the Belador World: Book 9 by Dianna Love
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the final installment of a 9 book novella series. This was a stunning conclusion to the series and I couldn't have asked for a better ending. Dianna did leave some things open ended which makes me believe we may see more from this world and that does not upset me one bit. Based on the ending I suspect we'll see these beloved characters again in the future, but if we don't I feel this was the perfect ending to the 9 books. This series has been terribly hard to review without spoiling anything.

This book is set to release on July 20, 2021.  I was provided an ARC via the author.  All opinions expressed are my own.

I have loved the Belador world since Alterant, and have loved going on this journey with this wonderful group of characters. Many of the questions that have been plaguing the reader since book 1 are finally answered in this installment. We find out where Casidhe's origins and her connection to the dragons. We see see several new alliances formed and enemies are finally defeated. I will tell you that I did not see it coming when we finally find out who is behind the Imortik invasion, but when you read who it is, you won't be surprised at all.

This book certainly kept me on my toes. Every time you think "all is lost" or "how are they going to get out of this situation", Dianna comes up with the perfect solution to their predicament. There is a ton of action to keep you guessing and turning the pages as the clock ticks down to the Imortik master opening the death wall and their friends turning into mindless supernatural pawns. I wasn't quite sure they were going to be able to save those possessed by Imortiks and if everyone was going to survive before it was all over.

Since this is a series of novellas, you have to start at the beginning and read them in order or it won't make sense. I do think you could pick this up without having read the Belador series. I've only read through book 6 of 10 of that series, and while I know I missed some stuff I was able to follow along easily. It has only made me want to get back to those books and pick up where I left off. Reading that series might help you understand the magic system a bit better and some of the other characters and their backstories, but I don't feel it is 100% required reading for this series.

Overall I loved this book and the series as a whole. We got great world building and character development. The characters had to learn from their mistakes and deal with the consequences of their actions. They were all faced with difficult decisions and put in terrible situations where people they cared about where in danger. I love this world, the magic, the varied types of characters, and I'm invested in what happens to the characters. I'm hoping there is more in store for them and we'll see them in the future!

Review: Treoir Dragon Chronicles of the Belador World: Book 8 by Dianna Love

Treoir Dragon Chronicles of the Belador World: Book 8 Treoir Dragon Chronicles of the Belador World: Book 8 by Dianna Love
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Is there really only one book left?  It is hard to believe that there is only 1 more installment of this series!  Yet again this installment was fast paced and full of action.  Things are finally coming to a head as Daegan and Cashide and the rest of the Belador gang are racing towards the Imortiks taking over and the Tribunal's timeline to save the world from utter destruction.  At every step something inevitably goes wrong and stands in their way of making progress in finding the grimoires and saving the day.

As this is the 8th installment of a 9 book novella series, a lot of stuff happens in roughly 200 pages.  Fortunately we get some answers to questions that have been plaguing readers since book 1.  I won't spoil them for you here because half the fun in reading this series is finding out what happens.  We don't get all of the answers, but we do find out some major pieces of information and several others are promised in the final book.  In this installment Daegan and Cashide are on the hunt for the 2nd grimoire volume, but first they have to decide if they can truly trust each other and put aside all of the issues they've had in the past.  Quinn, Reese, Evalle and the rest of the gang are still fighting demons while looking for Adriana and Sen who were captured by the Imortik master and they have to deal with Reese's crazy demon father.  And as always Macha, Queen Maeve, and Cathbad are always up to something to thwart the good deeds of our Belador friends and cause nothing but trouble.

Overall, this is another amazing installment of this series.  I can't believe it is almost over and I'm not sure what to expect in the final installment.  I still have a ton of questions, and there are still so many things that need to happen.  Dianna hasn't let me down yet, and I trust her to give this series the ending it needs.

Review: Treoir Dragon Chronicles of the Belador World: Book 7 by Dianna Love

Treoir Dragon Chronicles of the Belador World: Book 7 Treoir Dragon Chronicles of the Belador World: Book 7 by Dianna Love
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was provided an arc in exchange for an honest review.

I love how this series is progressing.  Despite the fact that Dianna is killing us with the cliffhangers, each installment is providing more and more information and we are getting closer to the end.  With only two more books to go in the series, things are starting to move quickly as time is running out for Casidhe and Daegan to find the grimoire volumes.  The more we learn the more everything seems to be connected, but all has not been revealed so I haven't quite figured out how everything in this puzzle fits together quite yet.  As usual Queen Maeve and Cathbad are up to no good, the Beladors are busy keeping demons at bay while trying not to expose themselves to the equally unfriendly to paranormal human population, the Imortik threat is getting worse, and the Tribunal is less than helpful.  With everyone fighting on every front success does not seem likely for our dragon king and his bookish companion and our favorite Belador warriors and their allies.  At every turn their is a new player for team evil and another battle to be fought.

I love the characters in this series.  There are so many plot lines to keep track of but things are finally starting to come together and I suspect that in the next two books were are finally going to get the answers to all of our questions.  I'm really invested in all of the storylines and characters and at the end of every installment I need to know what happens next.  Dianna is doing such an amazing job putting these together and keeping everything moving forward.  I'm so anxious to see how it all ends.

Keep in mind this is a novella series, with each book coming in around 200 pages and almost all of them end on a cliffhanger.  The good news is each of the books is being released 1 month apart so you don't have to wait very long to find out what happens next.  I'd opt for the 3 book bind ups or wait until all 9 books are out if you don't like cliffhangers or you prefer completed stories.  I am really enjoying the serial format of this series, it is really fun and I love the shorter novella format.

Review: Treoir Dragon Chronicles of the Belador World: Book 6 by Dianna Love

Treoir Dragon Chronicles of the Belador World: Book 6 Treoir Dragon Chronicles of the Belador World: Book 6 by Dianna Love
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was provided an ARC in exchange for an honest review.  This book is out today March 23, 2021.

This is book 6 of 9 in this novella series.  This is a serial series, so the books really aren't meant to be read as standalones.  Each book does end with a pretty major cliffhanger.  The good thing is they are being released 1 month apart so you don't have to wait long for them.  This book was packed with some new information and tons of twists and turns.  All I can say is that the ending of this one was so unexpected that I absolutely cannot wait for what comes next.  This was probably the biggest cliffhanger to date in the series, and I need book 7 ASAP!

Much like the other installments this follows several different storylines that are all starting to come together.  Things are starting to move a little more quickly as time runs out for Daegan to find a solution to the Immortik problem plaguing both the human and supernatural world.  He still doesn't have all of the volumes of the grimoires and it seems like every time he turns around some new enemy is at his doorstep.  Cashide is determined to take things into her own hands and finally figure out who and what she really is.  Her character development is finally taking a step in the right direction.  I appreciate that she is finally sticking up for herself and calling out people for treating her poorly. I'm looking forward to finding out her true identity and role in this story in the next 3 installments.

This story has been a rollercoaster ride.  There are betrayals, misunderstandings, conspiracies, and there are so many players.  Some of the players are working together to save the world, while some are all working independently for their own gains.  We also have some players that I'm not sure what role they have yet to play and which side they will end up on.  All I know is I'm loving this story.  This has been quite the adventure and I can't wait to find out how it all plays out.  There are still so many unanswered question and unknowns, but I have no doubt they will get answered in the next 3 installments.

Review: Treoir Dragon Chronicles of the Belador World: Book 4

Treoir Dragon Chronicles of the Belador World: Book 4 Treoir Dragon Chronicles of the Belador World: Book 4 by Dianna Love
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was provided an ARC via the author in exchange for an honest review.

This is book 4 in the novella series and Daegan and the gang are still fighting frantically against the Imortik invasion.  This installment moves several of the storylines ahead and introduces a few new ones.  The players are all still searching for the grimoires for different means, but Daegan hasn't given up on his Beladors and he has formed a new bond with Casidhe.  As the clock runs out, the Beladors must also continue to fight off demons in Atlanta while also staying hidden to the humans who are anxious to eliminate anything supernatural.

Much like the previous installments, there is alot going on in this book.  This leaves you wanting the next book right away because this sets up so many events to come.  We learn a bit more about what all the characters are up both on both sides and get a glimpse of where things are heading as the series progresses.  I'm really enjoying this monthly release, but if you are more of a novel person, I'd wait for the bigger bind ups or until the series is finished later in 2021.

I'd like to see Cashidhe's character mature a bit as the series progresses.  She acts very immaturely in this book.  I thought we were past that in the last book, but I'm hoping events in the future books will be more than enough to teach her who she should actually trust going forward.  As for the other characters, I'm intrigued by Lanna and I'm excited we are getting to know her more and what is in store for her.  I'm really looking forward to seeing where the rest of this adventure takes us.
