Review: Treoir Dragon Chronicles of the Belador World: Book 2 by Dianna Love

Treoir Dragon Chronicles of the Belador World: Book 2 Treoir Dragon Chronicles of the Belador World: Book 2 by Dianna Love
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This picks up where book 1 leaves off and really continues to expand the storyline.  Daegan is still searching for Tristan and the missing grimoires.  Casidhe has disappeared, so he calls in Quinn and his "friend" Reese to help locate her.  Once they find Casidhe, Daegan realizes he must change tactics if he wants her to help find the books and Tristan.  Casidhe still hasn't decided if she can trust Daegan or if he is really trying to protect those he loves and in turn will help her find Fenella.  She also has people to protect and every time she softens toward Deagen, he manages to make her angry again.  I love that she is strong willed and stubborn and he's kind of a brute who can't understand why she just won't cooperate with him.  I expect to see these two characters fight it out every step of the way as their characters develop and get to know each other.

This particular installment has several different storylines, and knowing Dianna Love's style they will eventually merge together at some point in the future.  We get some information from several different character's viewpoints, which allows us to get to know more about the plot as well as get to know some of the secondary characters.  Because this is going to be a more serial release type of series, I'm going to be patient and let things develop as they are supposed to.  I'm itching to get my hands on the rest of the books because things are starting to heat up plot wise as we learn more about the Imortiks, the plotline with Cathbad an Maeve develops bit more, and you can see something simmering beneath the surface between Daegan and Casidhe.  I expect all of these things to come together as the story progresses over the next several months.

Again because this is a series of novellas, it ends on a cliffhanger but book 3 should be out in just a few weeks.  There are still lots of unanswered questions, but because the plot moves quickly in such a short amount of time there is only so much we can learn in each installment.  I'm really a fan of this presentation and I'm looking forward to seeing how the story continues to develop and how the characters interactions change as things move forward.  This was a great introduction to the plotlines and I can't wait for more.

I was provided a copy of this book via the author in exchange for an honest review.  This book is available everywhere for purchase as of today October 12, 2020.
