Review: Overdue by Miranda Elaine

Overdue Overdue by Miranda Elaine
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was provided an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was a super cute, slow burn, friends to lovers romance. This follows introverted Leni and her best friend and neighbor Griffin. They have been neighbors since they were nine when Leni moved in with her grandmother. They didn't really like each other back then, but as they got to know each other, they realized they could be friends. Griffin was there for Leni when she really needed a friend, and he's been there for her ever since. They've both kept their romantic feelings for each other hidden since they were teenagers to protect their friendship. Leni has dealt with tragedy before, and when another event threatens to take someone she loves from her Griffin is there to take care of her and help her keep things together.

Griffin is the sweetest, he is patient with Leni and loves her for her. He also supports her when she needs it and pushes her to face her fears. I really liked that he never once wanted to change her, he only wanted to take care of her or support her so she could take care of herself. They had great banter and good healthy conversations. I love seeing adults having real conversations in books.

This was my first Miranda Elaine book, but I'll certainly be checking out her other books after reading this one. I really enjoyed getting to know the characters. I also really loved Leni's grandmother, Helen. She was hilarious! I also loved Parker, the new neighbor who ends up being a great friend to Leni. I believe this is a stand-alone, but I wouldn't be upset if we got a book with Parker's story. She was a great friend, but also has some sass.
