Review: Bad Boy Brody by Tijan

Bad Boy Brody Bad Boy Brody by Tijan
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I received an ARC from the author via her PR team in exchange for an honest review.  This releases on May 7th and I recommend checking it out if you enjoy adult contemporary romances.  Purchase links are at the bottom of the post.

Brody is an up an coming actor, he has it all until one night changes everything. He loses his brother Kyle, and the loss haunts Brody. His personality changes, he starts drinking to dull the pain of the loss, and his bright future as an A-list actor starts to plummet. A role comes along that might change things around for Brody, if things go well he can change his Bad Boy reputation and possibly secure his acting future. The movie is based on a true story, but what Brody didn't expect was to uncover the full truth about what happened on the Kellerman estate all of those years ago. He also never expected Morgan.

Morgan is wild, as wild as the mustangs that run on the Kellerman lands. The mustang herd has taken her in as one of their own, Shiloh and her mother Shoal are more family to Morgan than her actual family. When Morgan’s mother was murdered, her stepfather took her stepsiblings away and hired help to see to her care. Morgan was left to fend for herself, so she took to the woods and found solace with the herd. Morgan was homeschooled and completed her college degree online, but she prefers horses to people. She understands their pecking order and their mannerisms; they are pretty straightforward, unlike people. When Brody comes to her home to play the part of her stepfather in the movie about her mother’s murder, she doesn’t expect to feel pulled back in to the world of humans. She has stayed away for a reason and she isn’t sure she wants to face what happened or stop running from it.

Brody and Morgan pretty much have an insta-love story. The see each other and are instantly connected and attracted to each other. Perhaps it is their broken states that bring them together, perhaps it is that they are both insanely gorgeous, maybe a little bit of both. They both have issues they need to work out, and they both have people that care about them. Through a lot of passion filled nights together, they find comfort in each other and someone they can confide in about their painful memories. They both begin to heal from their pasts, but neither really wants to be tamed.

Overall, I enjoyed this. Some of the situations Brody and Morgan find themselves in are a bit unrealistic and I found myself rolling my eyes at some of their interactions, but hey this is a romance novel after all. Inexperienced Morgan gets with very experienced Brody after talking to him 2 times, and then they are together all the time. I just feel like she would be much more guarded, considering she runs away from her 3 siblings and every other human, but she is completely comfortable with Brody from the start. If you let that go, the story is good; it is a unique setting, unique characters, and a decent plot. There is even a little mystery element to the story that I really appreciated.
