Review: Look Smart by Aly Stiles

Look Smart Look Smart by Aly Stiles
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was provided an ARC of this book via the author and Smartypants Romance, all opinions are my own.

This is my favorite book in the series so far!!!!  It was hilarious, while also having a great plot and character arcs.  This is a standalone, but I highly recommend reading Stiles' other books in the series so that you understand some of the references, inside jokes, and characters mentioned.  You are missing out on some prime Chad and Reedweather content in the previous books.  You will fully understand everything that is going on, but if you fully want to understand why Chad is dressed as a Mer-nut, that is explained in the previous books.

As for this book, I loved Nate and Natalie.  They work for competitor telecom companies, and they are both trying to land the same client.  The difference is Nat loves her job in sales, Nate hates sales.  The person they think can help them land the account they are both after is not truly the person who can help them, but they both find themselves pitted against one another in a corporate war to land the big account.  Nate and Nat met prior to knowing that they worked for competing companies and hand a lovely interaction and are attracted to each other.  They set up rules for their interaction while at the resort for the conference, but often find themselves breaking their own rules.  Their corporate espionage tactics work really well because their relationship is going swimmingly but they aren't any closer to landing the account for either side.

I loved the interactions between Nate and Nat.   He is a bit broken by recent events and he hates his job.  Nat is the balm to all the things that are broken and the chaos in his life.  She isn't sure she wants a relationship but she wants him now.  They have great banter, great chemistry,  and good character development.  They both have a support system to help them and talk through their issues.   Nate is in a bad place and is in a dark place from past experiences.  He doesn't want to reach out to use his support system, but they are there and ready to help when he is ready to let them.  This is a common them in the series and I've enjoyed getting to know Nate, Marcos and Nash and their partners.  I very much enjoyed Chad in this book, he is so ridiculous you can't help but like him.

Overall, I really enjoyed this.  It was hard to put down  The storyline moved at a good pace and it kept me laughing out loud throughout.  The author did a great job mixing the humor in with the heavier moments.  This has some steamy parts, but they aren't super detailed.
